Woman Accused in Rideshare and Shooting Incident Granted Bail
A 20-year-old woman, Terleaha Williams-Oliver, has been granted bail after a court determined she does not pose a risk to community safety. The case involves allegations of her being part of a criminal plan to fire a semiautomatic rifle at a family home in Sydney’s west. Police believe the attack was targeted.
Williams-Oliver is accused of booking a rideshare for one of her co-accused following the incident. She faces charges including firing a firearm into a dwelling place, participating in a criminal group, and possessing an unregistered firearm. The alleged events took place in May 2025 when two men, Steven Mate and Christopher Leonard, conducted a drive-by of a home in Mount Druitt.
According to the court, the three co-accused were involved in a coordinated plan. A message between them reportedly said: “Go there, spray it, drive for a bit and get out.” Mate allegedly fired 26 rounds into the premises while parked outside the home. More bullets then sprayed the building as the car drove off.
At the time of the incident, seven adults and four young children were inside the house, but no one was injured. The case came to light again on Monday as Williams-Oliver sought bail in the NSW Supreme Court. The judge, Justice Sarah Huggett, approved her release after she was accepted into a drug rehabilitation program on the NSW Central Coast.
Prosecutor Ben Edye did not oppose her release. The court considered that Williams-Oliver had experienced prior trauma, had been diagnosed with psychological and psychiatric issues, and was a vulnerable person due to her First Nations status. The strict conditions of the 12-week rehab program, along with additional bail conditions, were deemed sufficient to ensure she would not reoffend or pose a risk to the community.
After being released from Dillwynia Prison on Tuesday, Williams-Oliver will be required to immediately attend the rehab centre. She has also been barred from drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs while on bail.
All three co-accused—Williams-Oliver, Mate, and Leonard—are scheduled to appear at Penrith Local Court on May 8. None have entered pleas so far.
