Red Panda’s Return to the NBA Court

Red Panda, known in real life as Rong Niu, made a remarkable return to the NBA court on Tuesday night after sustaining an injury this summer. Her performance has become a staple at NBA, WNBA, and college basketball games across America in recent years. The Chinese-American acrobat is well-known for her unique unicycle routine, which involves riding a seven-foot unicycle around the court while flicking bowls up with her feet and balancing them on her head. This skill has earned her a special place in the hearts of fans across the United States.

The incident that led to her injury occurred during a July 1 performance at the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final between the Indiana Fever and the Minnesota Lynx. During the event, Niu fell from her unicycle and landed heavily on the ground. She spent 11 hours in a Minneapolis hospital following the fall. Despite the setback, she made a triumphant return on Tuesday night in Chicago during the halftime of the game between the Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Niu’s agent, Patrick Figley, shared that she first returned from the injury on October 23 for an Amazon Prime event and has also made a few appearances at universities. Her resilience and dedication have been evident throughout her recovery process.

The accident happened when Niu fell from her unicycle and landed on the ground. Initially, she walked off the court, holding her right arm up to the crowd to reassure fans that she was okay. However, a wheelchair was eventually brought out to take her off the court.

After the Fever secured the Cup title with a 74-59 win over the Lynx, injured Indiana superstar Caitlin Clark paid tribute to Red Panda during their locker room celebrations. On an Instagram live stream, Clark expressed her support, saying, “Red Panda, we love you.”
