A New Chapter for Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons

Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons, well-known figures in the Australian media landscape, have made headlines with their recent real estate move. The power couple has downsized from their Sydney mansion to a luxurious penthouse in Mosman, which they purchased for $16.5 million. This marks a significant shift in their lifestyle, as they transition from a sprawling property to a more compact yet opulent living space.

The new home, affectionately called “The Castle,” is a four-bedroom apartment located on the top floor of a six-unit building. It offers breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour and spans 530 square meters of indoor and outdoor space. The property features a private rooftop terrace, an open rooftop bathtub, a teppanyaki barbecue, and a hidden turret kitchenette. Additionally, it includes heritage-protected sandstone, blending historical charm with modern luxury.

This purchase sets a new record for the highest price ever paid for a private apartment in Mosman, surpassing the previous record of $14.1 million set in 2022. The sale of their former home, Ingleneuk, also made waves, as it was sold for $23 million after being on the market for several months. The mansion, which they bought in 1998 for $2.95 million, had been a symbol of their success and wealth over the years.

Ingleneuk, built in 1903, was restored by Lisa and Peter to its former glory. The six-bedroom residence sits on a vast 3,125 square meter block, featuring sweeping harbour views, a tennis court, a heated pool, and manicured gardens. The couple also acquired two neighboring blocks to restore the estate to its original size, securing a rare dual-frontage that made it one of the Lower North Shore’s most prestigious addresses.

Over the years, the property has hosted numerous high-profile guests, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Hugh Jackman, and Nigella Lawson. However, the sale of their home sparked some online criticism, with many questioning the disparity between their wealth and their political stances. Some social media users remarked on the irony of a left-leaning couple selling their house for such a high price.

Peter FitzSimons, known for his advocacy for Australian republicanism, has previously chaired the Australian Republican Movement. His commitment to this cause has often been a topic of discussion, especially given his personal wealth and public influence.
